Job Title:

Junior Data Engineer Intern - Summer 2026

Job Description:

The Data Engineer is responsible for combining internal and external data sources enabling data analysts to create business-relevant insights. The candidate will be able to orchestrate data pipelines, create new data aggregation schemas and propose unique ways to efficiently combine multiple data sources enabling data driven decision-making for internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Extracts and manipulates large amounts of data in Python, PySpark, and SQL to combine data sources and consistently harmonize the digital footprint of Allison products

• Deploys and orchestrates data pipelines hydrating dashboards while retaining proper documentation and version control practices

• Optimizes data delivery methods for data analysts and scientists without impacting day-to-day operations for internal stakeholders

• Proposes novel ways to deliver business insights, designs new schemas and data models, documents any data discrepancy

• Performs automated testing following modern software development practices for data consistency, data lineage, and version control

• Performs integration of external services through API protocols

Qualifications / Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or STEM-related field.

• Less than three years of experience in a corporate environment

• Proven ability to efficiently manipulate large data volumes in Python and/or PySpark and create complex, multi-statement queries in SQL

• Demonstrated ability to create value from data through visualization (Power BI)

• Managing larger data repositories and pipelines >100GB
