Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner -Full Time-Nebraska Methodist Hospital

Nebraska Methodist Hospital is looking for a Full Time Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner to lead and support the respiratory care team while ensuring high-quality patient care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide Advanced Respiratory Care : Deliver routine and complex respiratory therapies independently; respond to emergencies; perform airway management, CPR, and assist with bronchoscopies and ventilator support.
• Lead and Support Staff : Supervise, coach, and mentor respiratory staff; evaluate performance; assist with orientation, scheduling, and staff development; serve as a clinical resource.
• Ensure Quality Documentation and Compliance : Accurately document patient assessments and care in the EMR; update care plans; maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Promote Patient and Staff Satisfaction : Collaborate across departments to ensure continuity of care; address patient and staff concerns; support hospital core values and maintain a positive work environment.
• Oversee Department Operations : Manage therapy assignments, equipment use, homecare setups, and supply ordering; monitor staffing and shift coverage; contribute to departmental policies and continuous improvement.

Location:

• Nebraska Methodist Hospital: 8303 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE

Schedule:

• 3x12 Day Shift; 6:30a-7p, 36 hour week

Job Requirements:

• Advanced knowledge of respiratory care principles, practices and procedures such as management skills, research results, diagnostic methodologies, and new techniques normally acquired through completion of an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Care required. Bachelors of Science Degree preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 1-2 years of Respiratory experience required.

License/Certifications:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) with the National Board of Respiratory Care required.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the state of Nebraska required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required.
• Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Current American Heart Association Neonatal Respiratory Program (NRP) Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of annual mandatory education requirements required.
