Job Description

The Light Truck Driver is responsible for driving a truck within a city of industrial area to transport materials, merchandise, and or equipment between various types of establishments. Position is also, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of merchandise at Naval Station Great Lakes.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

This individual drives a truck within a city of industrial area to transport materials, merchandise, and or equipment between various types of establishments. Position is also, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of merchandise at Naval Station Great Lakes. There are established pick up points between facilities in a straight truck, under 1 1/2 tons, usually four (4) wheels. In addition, the individual is responsible for completing all required paperwork efficiently and neatly..

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

1. Sort and prepare material for delivery to TCA,NAVSTA and RTC
2. Load and Offload material for delivery
3. Establish/maintain positive working relations with Goodwill staff
4. Clean interior and exterior of vehicle at the end of each shift. Make cursory check of vehicle cleanliness throughout shift.
5. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. One year of successful driving experience preferred
2. Can obtain and hold a Secret Clearnance
3. A Real ID-compliant driver's license is required for access to the naval base and for employment. Candidates must provide proof of this indentification
4. Driving record acceptable to insurance carrier
5. Ability to obtain forklift certification
6. Must be a US Citizen, as defined by th US Navy security guidelines

5. Ensure vehicle is fueled at the end of shift.
6. Complete required DOT pre/post trip inspection of vehicle and paperwork of inspection

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

1. Able to sit for long periods of time
2. Ability to recognize colors (i.e. signs, stoplights, etc.)
3. Work involves exposure to the elements indoor and outdoor.
4. Extensive physical activity. Requires physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

The pay rate for this position is $26.72
