**Marine Electrician (Repair) - San Diego, CA**
**Job Description**
+ As a Marine Electrician in the repair sector, you will install, repair, and hook up equipment for all electrical services on ships. You will be responsible for laying out, pulling, lifting out, and installing cable and conduit. You will also prepare work areas, drill holes, grind metal surfaces, and weld mounting equipment. Testing electrical equipment and performing other related tasks are also integral parts of this role.
**Responsibilities**
+ Prepare work areas, drill holes, and grind metal surfaces.
+ Install welds and hook up equipment.
+ Lay out, pull, rip out, repair, and install cable and conduit.
+ Test electrical equipment.
+ Read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manual.
+ Remove scrap and perform general cleanup.
+ Complete 6-10 hook ups a day.
+ Perform other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade.
**Essential Skills**
+ Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and shipbuilding practices.
+ Ability to use power and hand tools.
+ Ability to read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals.
+ Two years marine electrical experience and/or four years electrical experience.
+ Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
+ Comprehension of written and verbal instructions and safety regulations.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Availability to work 1st and 2nd shifts (6:30am - 3:00pm and/or 2:30pm - 11:00pm).
+ Types of candidates considered include marine electricians, Navy Personnel such as Gas Turbine Electricians, Electrician's Mates, Avionics Techs, and Engineering Techs, and residential or commercial electricians.
**Work Environment**
+ Work will be supporting the repair business, with worksite locations varying from NBSD, NASNI Coronado, to active Navy ships within the shipyard. The position requires DBIDS and involves working in a dynamic and active shipyard environment, following all safety procedures and requirements.
**Job Type & Location**
+ This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
