The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
The Church Musician is responsible for providing musical support for worship services, special events, and other church-related activities. This individual will work collaboratively with the pastor, worship leader, choir, and other musicians to enhance the spiritual atmosphere through music that aligns with the church's vision and theology.
Provide instrumental or vocal music for weekly worship services (typically on Sundays).
Rehearse and perform with the worship team, choir, or other ensembles as required.
Select, prepare, and perform appropriate music in coordination with the pastor or worship leader.
Accompany congregational singing, soloists, and other musicians as needed.
Lead music in worship services if required (e.g., playing piano, organ, guitar, etc.).
Attend and participate in rehearsals and planning meetings.
Provide music for weddings, funerals, and special services as needed (with possible additional compensation).
Maintain church instruments and equipment, and report any maintenance needs.
Encourage and support the musical development of volunteers and congregation members.
Proficient in at least one instrument (piano, organ, guitar, etc.).
Ability to read music and/or play by ear.
Experience in leading or accompanying worship music (traditional, contemporary, or blended style).
Familiarity with Christian hymns, worship songs, and liturgical music.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
A heart for ministry and alignment with the church's mission and values.
