Job Description

Let’s Build the Future of Industry — Together!

At ZAP Engineering & Construction Services , we don’t just design solutions—we engineer impact. Our team’s purpose is to ensure the successful execution of our clients' projects from start to finish, with constructable and cost-effective designs. From the oil fields of Texas to the mining operations of Canada and the manufacturing corridors of Mexico, our work keeps the industry moving. Headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, ZAP provides comprehensive engineering, design, and construction management services across North America. Fast-paced, highly collaborative, and unapologetically ambitious—we’re not your typical engineering firm. We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Director to lead from the front—technically sharp, strategically minded, and ready to mentor the next generation of engineering talent.

Ready to take command of project performance?
We’re looking for a sharp, detail-driven Project Controls Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in keeping high-impact construction projects on track, on time, and on budget. If earned value management, schedule precision, and data-driven decision-making light your fire—you’re in the right place.

What You’ll Do:
You’ll be the nerve center of our project teams—pulling together real-time data, flagging issues before they derail progress, and supporting boots-on-the-ground construction teams with clarity and coordination. You'll turn complex project dynamics into clear reports, actionable insights, and smooth execution.
  • Sync with project teams and stakeholders to gather real-time data and build sharp weekly status updates.

  • Track cost and schedule performance using KPIs like CPI and SPI—and help project managers course-correct before small issues become big ones.

  • Drive earned value processes to keep budgets and timelines aligned—and raise red flags when needed.

  • Help shape and update project schedules while keeping key players aligned and informed.

  • Serve as the critical bridge between field teams and office staff—managing submittals, RFIs, task completions, and quantity tracking.

  • Facilitate project meetings and document takeaways that lead to action—not confusion.

  • Pitch in on whatever it takes to make sure projects are delivered with excellence.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in scheduling, cost tracking, and project controls in a construction or engineering environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel (you live for pivot tables and can craft killer dashboards).

  • Clear communicator—both in writing and in person—with a knack for translating technical data into decisions.

  • Comfortable working independently and owning your timeline, deliverables, and success.

  • Bonus points for a basic understanding of accounting and leadership experience in task force settings.

Base Salary Range:

  • $72,800 to $98,800 annually, depending on experience.

Total Rewards Package Includes:
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and long-term success:

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Accrued Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Coverage

  • Basic & Voluntary Life / AD&D Insurance

  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Supplemental Aflac Options

Closing Date: 08/29/2025
